Hello, i'm new to rigging in 3ds max. I need to rig this mechanical object, i never did this before. can someone show me how to do it the proper way?

I've done some linking and hierarchies with dummy objects as shown in this tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqt-H1MC0Uw, everything is okay if its moving on single axis, but when i rotate the base, everything's messed up. fyi: i did wire parameter connection in X and Y axis (position) for the bottom parts (piston tube to follow the rotating base), maybe this is wrong?. i'm sorry for my stupid question guys. you don't have to do the rig for me, i'm just trying to find out the proper way to do this kind of rig in max. so, i appreciate any feedback. thank you guys.

Hello Danny, thank you very much for the video link. yes, i'm looking for things to learn here as i'm planning to be focused more on hard surface modelling and rigging from now. i'm sorry if my questions are too basic. i hope they'll be a better ones next time they popping out of my mind.
