Hello. I'm new to the forum and kinda new to 3dsMax and CG in general.

So, I have created an object that is basically a cylinder with its base extruded along a spline. Now I want to UV that object but Max doesn't seem to recognize the polygons that were created by the extrusion. The UV space contains only the polygons that initially belonged to the cylinder. Any idea what I need to do?

(As shown in the picture below, the highlighted polygons don't have UVs)

They'll be there but probably compressed down to a single point.  Just select the faces and do a flatten or something - that will make them visible

Strictly speaking those polys will have UVs, you’ll be able to select verts in uv edit and move them, it’s just their coverage will essentially be zero - put a texture on and you’ll see how it streaks. You’ll need to manually give them some reasonable co-ords for them to be workable, quick way will be to run a seam up one of the edge loops and do a peel

You can use unfold from loop or spline mapping in unwrap but for next time you could just make it easier for yourself and start with a renderable spline with Generate Mapping Coords checked.
