Modeled in 3DsMax and Zbrush rendered in Corona. This character has the power of Electrokinesis; the ability to control electric currents. His natural power is enhanced by the devices he carries. The straps on his back extract energy from his body, the large cylinder is a generator, the 2 glass devices store the energy and the metal sphere is an energy concentrator. Finally, the electrical current runs over his arm and fingers, through the control device and wires, into the copper nails. The small chameleon is a mind-controlled lookout/scout ;-)
Gannon Thanks, the skin was mostly made with alphas mostly extracted from online photos using Crazybump (But you can use any Height/NM generating program like bmp2mat or materialize or shadermap).
Looks great! I would have added some color or at least value variation to the skin, but since it's a chameleon I dunno if you are planning on making that with shaders. Also in comparation the colors of its companion are much more saturated, which attracts more the eye to it instead of the face of character.
The machinery design is brilliant! Love all the little coil details fused with such clean, interesting forms. Can I ask what sort of inspiration you looked at to come up with these?
Tetranome Mostly just did it out of my head, with 19th-century electric devices in mind. (Bit of reference but not much) Also wanted to get a bit of a steampunk look, without the steam :-)
Love it! Real nice job with this one. Especially the skin details with all the scales and what-not. I think some parts like the shoes or fabric feel a tad too clean but that's just me nitpicking.
Beautiful work. I love the distribution of detail, very well balanced. Quite Brian Fruid. The only crit I have is the readability of the face at smaller sized renders. The eyes and mouth seem to disappear making it difficult to read. Great stuff!
