Need help with pc's componets

Hi everyone,

I'm a young spanish 3D game developer student and I'm starting to look for a new pc , I have a decent laptop ( i7-4720,8gb ram, 1tb and gforce gtx 960m) but although I can put more ram and a SSD, it's inevitable that I will need something with more power, or at least something which can be upgrade (and don't forget have one computer for personal things and the big one for profesionals).

I must say that I have 0 idea in pc components so to me i5 and i7 is that one is oldest than the other.

Do you have some list of components or recommendations? In this moment my budget is arround 1000-1100 euros (1.200 - 1.300 US) because somethin cheaper...I think it doesn't exist.
