I have a problem with my wacom tablet pressure curve/threshold setting

In tablet properties there is an option to adjust the setting of the pen "tip feel", from "soft" to "firm". (Screenshoot added). The problem is that, this vital option suddenly stopped working -- the system simply doesn't react to the changes I make there. I tried reinstalling my driver, tried using "Tablet Pressure Curve Tool" and messing with the numbers of the tablet .dat files, nothing helps. What am I supposed to do in this situation to be able to adjust the tip feel levels?

i rarely have to set up a new OS but when i do it usually takes some experimenting to get a truly trouble-free wacom driver version. which would be my suggestion: if you are on latest & greatest, consider trying some older ones that still support your device.

also, since you seem to be on windows 7, have you made sure to disable all the microsoft pen input stuff: http://viziblr.com/news/2011/8/14/the-ultimate-guide-to-making-your-wacom-tablet-work-on-windo.html ?

that has a tendency to get in the way.
