So I'm building the Mystery Shack from Gravity Falls. I'm 2 days in and trying to be as accurate as possible even though the house changes so much in each episode. Thought I'd create this post as I progress through it. Feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for looking Day 1
Thank you, I'll see what I can do with the logs. Right now I'm working on the roof, added tiles to break it up a little bit and trying to add the grass but I'm not sure I'm going about this the right way. Any suggestions?
Hey @KrissyH , your piece is coming along well! I'm coming from the 'How the F%&# do you model this' thread, so I'd like to share some ideas on how to tackle the moss covered roof.
I believe you're headed in the right direction, but I'd just add more geometry onto the moss and 'tuck' in the edges so you dont get sharp intersecting cuts with the roof. I'll try and illustrate that with this example - If I were creating the moss, I'd take it into zbrush to sculpt it and zremesh

Ah thank you I didn't even think of zBrush I'll give it a try
I increased the polys on the main roof just need to do the secondary roofs and the bottom row...I think I need a better contrast between the wall logs and the porch boards
Got the windows and doors painted, put a placeholder on the metal roof will add more detail later. Just need to get the signs done and the chimney, pipe and roof ledge and repaint the grass too. Then have a few more objects to add to the roof (weather vein, and speaker). I will add all the loose objects after I'm done with that.
