Hello,
super newb question. I'am a CG artist in training and I'am still linked with 3ds max for my model blockouts. How do I fix these shading issues in Maya 2018? What is the best possible and simplest way to go about fixing these ugly shaded surfaces? How can I prevent this from happening? Currently working on moving my workflow to all Maya. Its hard to leave 3ds max but it will happen one day.

Try to Set Normal Angle! It's like AutoSmooth in 3ds max.
Mesh Display - Set Normal Angle.
