I finally got around to do some more hand painted work this is currently my First pass. i believe the concept is from Car Xigang please correct me if i'm wrong. Any CC would be helpful.

Be braver about the specular highlight strength.  There's areas in the concept where it goes straight to white.

NICE! Way better.

Now you need some more noise damage across the metal head to wear it in.  See how worn it is in the concept despite the specular highlighting.

nice, although in terms of concept, the vertebra base of the blade is a faulty design, it is giving the impression that the blade will keep swinging on it's own. So maybe have some ropes around the vertebra to show reinforcements
Apart from that it's coming along nicely, you might wanna add a bit more ambient occlusion (colored) to make the forms pop out more.

Current WIP been playing around and got some interesting results. haven't done anything model wise since i've been wanting to really work on the texture. i still got a good chunk of work left to do on this.
