Please help, Maya won't save out xgen files

I'm having difficulty with xgen at the moment where every time I save out my scene, it doesn't save out any xgen files. I've even manually exported out collection and description files but they don't appear or are even hidden. To preference, I've used xgen before in maya 2018 and its worked, I have set up a project, I don't have autosave turned on and I haven't change any of the naming conventions.

Please I don't want this to be a month-worth project. I've already taken long enough time figuring out what I'm doing with this project through trial and error and don't want to take anymore time.
