Been a while since I posted here, but I'm finally working on a new piece! Doing this for the Retrogasm Art Competition going on right now (on Facebook). Here's the original MP2 concept:

Since the concept is pretty vague in some areas, I'm using it more for inspiration than trying to translate it exactly. And, I'm just kinda doing my own thing in certain areas.

Here's a bit of my progress so far. Working on redoing antennas now, then moving onto the shoulders/arms!

Thanks! @lotet it's all sculpted in Zbrush so far

Here's an update - redid the antennas and finished the shoulders/arms! My goal is to have the legs finished this weekend then I'll take a bit of time to figure out that fur.

Thanks! Here's an update - finished sculpting the body finally! Just need to figure out the fur, which I plan to do over the weekend!

Finished the polypaint and fur cards! I've never done fur/hair this way, but it's exciting to learn a new technique! Gotta work on the fur texture next!

Lowpoly/UV/bakes done - baking in Marmoset is so easy and fast! Try it if you haven't! This is about 50k tris. Fur still in progress, I plan to blend it and add some more variation later. Color is just base, going to take this into Substance very soon

Almost finished with textures! I plan to pose and create a small base/scene for this guy next. Have a bit more work to do on the fur still as well

Posed and added a base and some placeholder orbs. Pose needs a lot of refinement still and base still needs a bit more work. I have some cool effects I plan to add as I start finishing this up!

My idea is that it's the Ing from Dark Aether are trying to posses the Luminoth. Still need to refine the pose and the orbs are still kinda placeholder. I have some cool plans with effects I'll work on as I finish this all up!

Thanks @lotet and @Skinner3D ! I'm very close to finishing this now and so happy with how it's turning out!

I've finalized the pose, added some alpha planes for the glowing on the base along with some particles and moths. Now I really just need to finalize lighting and the overall scene - may play around with some subtle dust effects as well!
