Please help with Blender Liquid!

Im trying to follow this tutorial (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0uS7T0AMVw) but i'm having trouble with the domain and I can't figure out why. The first screenshot is mine, the second is the tutorial. When I bake nothing happens and I think its because its not showing those checkerboard lines. When he creates the domain the lines show up on the liquid inside the domain. When I create the domain it doesn't show up on my liquid in the domain, I don't get what i'm doing wrong. Thank you in advance, any help is appreciated.
