Hey guys, been ages since I've posted and I finally took the time/got the go ahead to show some of the VFX/lighting stuff I've been up too both professionally and personally. I've cut it all into breakdown videos and wanted to post it somewhere I could share/answer questions if anyone had any about implementation, etc. Stoked to finally share!

Could you please tell what should my first steps be to learn how to create real-time VFX for video games?
Generally speaking, my advice would be to make make make. Pick a game engine (I would recommend Unreal, mostly since their particle system is getting a large update) and start finding intro level tutorials on creating content. Unreal also has a massive amount of content released by epic in the VFX category to tear apart and see how it's made (though some intro to cascade, UE4's particle editor would do you good first so you know what you are looking at).
From there it's all about learning the basics of materials, particle systems, and practicing timing and figuring out ways to learn different effects.
Hope that helps and happy to answer any specific questions you have!
Alex
Good luck with your work!
