Hi everyone,
I’m a third-year computer games art student at Teesside University. I’m currently working on creating a Moroccan villa. I’m looking for feedback on what I have done so far, I’m not happy with how the scene looks but I’m struggling to pin point what is wrong within the scene.
I have taken a lot of inspiration from Joakim Stigsson’s Moroccan Courtyard, I’m hoping to create something with the same level of detail and atmosphere as this scene. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/50E38
If you would like to see how I have gotten to this stage I have an Artstation blog which I have been updating weekly. https://www.artstation.com/davidbullock3d/blog

If anyone has any feedback on how I could improve my scene it would be greatly appreciated.

@BramScrum Do you know of any good tutorials/documentation on bounced lighting or just lighting in general?
I have revamped the textures in my scene. I couldn’t get the pastel colours to work well with my lighting, so I looked at some different references. I found a lot of courtyards had a white and green theme, I tested that in my scene and it seems to work a lot better.
Take a look at the incredible Stigssons lighting and textures. I think you've got your inspiration from his work! a lot of his texture if not all, has a good highlight on the edges. don't be afraid to do so to.
He is good with textures, cause he concentrates on the big material faults, then secondary and threshere.
Also his edges are soft so it bakes down a lot better=).
Joakims work has been a massive inspiration of mine he is a very talented artist. Thanks for the feedback, I need seem that I have some sharp edges on my pillars, I thought about chamfering them, but I didn’t want to increase the poly count on them. I might have to go back to them and make them softer.
