Maya seems confused

When I use the Maya Mesh>Mirror tool,  after using any other modeling tool, the pop-up control window will appear as the previous tool used instead of the Mirror tool. I can still activate the mirror options pop-up window from the menu and work around it, but I'm just curious as to why this is happening. If I open Maya and select Mesh>Mirror as my initial tool, the correct pop-up control window appears. Freaky, right? Check it out:

Normally you'd go back to object mode or have a face selection to do the mirroring. If you're still in an extrude, it's trying to mirror the faces you had selected for the extrude (even though they're not visually selected). And failing in fun ways now that I'm playing with it.

The control box not popping sounds like a bug for what it's worth.

have you tried to delete the prefs..?
sometimes they get corrupted...

Throttlekitty, you were right, deselecting the extruded faces before going into object mode and mirroring seems to solve the problem. Thanks for your help!
