Just had a quick question, im making a weapon. It's low poly, around 2000 tris. I plan on making it PBR though with normal map etc

Should i model the blade and handle seperatly, as two meshes and combine them when done into one. Or should i make the whole thing from a single mesh to begin with?

Modeling the handle seperatly would be easier, as i don't have to think about every vertex and face having to flow well into the blade but if it is incorrect i would rather do it the hard way i guess.

Alright, i'll try out the fast way first. If it ends up not working, i can always merge vertices into one mesh. I was just confused and didn't want to finish the whole thing the wrong way xD

    Thank you :)

Yeah you can model them separately. If you want one uv set attach the meshes in your app at the end. If the texture baking stuffs up explode the mesh and unexplode them when you are done, or use a cage. If you are using  software like substance painter, you can keep then separate models, export as fbx and use them as seperate texture sets in a substance scene. there is alot of combinations.
