Hello all. I make rings from coins and would like to know if there is a way i can take an image of the coin into a PC and fold it with software to see a pretty close example of what the design on the coin would look like after being folded. So it would go from a flat doughnut shape into a cylinder with the top design on the outside and the bottom design on the inside. It would be great to go the other way also for rings that have custom designs. I could make the design on the pc and flatten it out and engrave it onto a flat service and then fold it.
Thank you for your time.

Which 3d software do you have access to?
We'd have to know a little more about what you mean by custom designs. I can imagine things like notches and cut patterns that would need extra modeling on the ring state, which makes morphing and UV adjustments more complicated. All in all, I think this would be a lot of extra work over a pencil or ink drawing or photos of your previous work.
