Hello Everyone, I'll be posting my WIP and finished work here. I am a 3D character/creature artist for games. Open to any critiques or comments. Here are links to my portfolio, etc.
Here's a cute cartoon shaded White Shark I made after the Samezu comic series by Moho Arimura. I added a black outline shader to it in Maya to better mimic the comics style.
My current project is a submission in the Artstation Beneath the Waves 3D character/creature competition. Here is the most recent image. I am still working on the rocky pedestal and textures across everything. Less than 2 weeks till its due now! Anyone else participating?
Finished the Artstation Beneath the Waves challenge today. It honestly feels good to be done. Ready for the next piece. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ovy4L
Started a Marvelous Designer class at CGMA3D by John Gotch. The first lesson was just an intro and we made a table cloth. Very basic but I am excited to progress in this new program.
My major project right now is a concept by Alexis Rives. I have the majority of the model done and uv-d and am now going through and starting texture passes. Got some work done on the face and hair today.
Original Concept: Alexis Rives https://www.artstation.com/artwork/xPwzr Still going on the texturing, alot is still in block out but I have worked on the face, hair, arms, and some of the top cloak.
Gal, this is looking so awesome. The texturing stage its so beautifuly done, can't wait to see it finished. Any change to see some gif breakdown? That would be awesome

Thank-you! Hmm I haven't really been actively documenting everything, but I might be able to go through some layers and make some texture process gifs.
@renanfab@Murgen Ok I wasn't planning ahead to show a breakdown but I managed to scrape together what it looks like in the beginning. I'll be better about trying to save process shots in the future. I can do some of all of the props hanging on this creature if anyone is interested in that as I continue. I start off with a super rough block out of where I want all of the colors to go, 100% opacity so that I know where everything should lay and have a starting color palette. Then I just go through and start refining everything. Everything is done in 3D coat with just the default round brush.
Right now I am going piece by piece and compiling it all back into Maya. At the end I'll probably pull the whole model in and do a final pass on everything.
@NTakasato Killing it man, just look at that mesh. The long fingers must have taken ages to get right, so long and skinny.
Thank-you! To be honest I sculpted a base first precisely for that reason! So that I could retopo over everything. the fingers were still a bit annoying but not as bad with a base sculpt to lay it over. Here's an old screenshot of the base. A lot of it was playing around with the proportions of everything to make sure it would all fit.
I love the turquoise hair girl (the concept by Alexis Rives) and how you've modeled it/brought it to life! The texturing paintings are very well done and looks 2D. The shapes and silhouette is also faithful to the original. I look forward in seeing the finished product!
I'm still working on the textures for the doll but needed a serious break from it today so I started this concept by Labros Panousis https://www.artstation.com/artwork/J6mEn Still trying to work out what the legs are like but feel free to critique.
