Hello everyone! I came into the fray a little late, but still wanted to give this a whirl. My idea for this contest was to create Ekko's Q animation (Timewinder), with a new skin that I created. The new skin being Steampunk Ekko.
I started the design process on how I wanted the model to look and animate as well as a quick paint over of Ekko to design a Steampunk skin for him for my modeling reference.
Here is the start of the progress videos for the animation and bringing it into Unreal. This is the start of the animation. Also, if you have any good ways to record for your submissions, please let me know. I am currently just using OBS and cropping it to fit. I know there has to be a better way, but I can't find it yet.
#6 I added some various chaotic particles around the big gear when it opens up and gave it some on-hit effects to act as Ekko's passive. As there is not much else the ability does to the enemy visibly, this is what I am using to show how the other sphere responds to the attack. It is now pretty much done. On the other hand, if anyone has suggestions or critiques for me, I'd be glad to hear them! Thanks for checking it out and good luck to all participating!
Really like the noise on the particles at the end.
I feel like the final video should start without the gear visible and there might be a little room to add a small amount of anticipation beforehand? I know the ability in-game is pretty instant though!
Thanks for the feedback! I had thought of making the gear invisible at the start, and is one of the greater possibilities if I get time in the next couple of days. About the anticipation though, yeah it doesn't have any in game so I plan on sticking with that. It just kind of instantly appears.
Tweaked the visibility of the gear and calling it good for this one. As always, feedback and comments are welcome. Thanks for checking it out and good luck to all!
