Still working on the blockout, can't wait to dynamesh this and start working on more organic shapes. Also playing around with the helmet and thinking about using a visor.
Currently I made some changed. The wings are definitely not going to stay for a long time, I will probably experiment with fully opened/epic looking wings. Quickly dropped into keyshot using zbrush bridge, to see how the planes work with the light and understand better what I want to change in terms of the forms.
Oh also, I made some weapons on the back, I'll figure out how to make them work in the future... haha
Even though the armor is no where near final, I will be changing the shapes a lot using dynamesh, I did a little overpaint. Highlights are where I want to put some accents, maybe gold or something along those lines. Dark/textured areas are where I want to have more noise/mechanical parts visible. The mid values are the resting areas. Didn't really touch the wings or cloths in this overpaint, just the armor. Mainly so that when I carry on modelling/dynamesh sculpting I know where I want to put more mechanical details and where to leave it more plain.
Thanks! Wasn't happy how busy it started to look and difficult to read so I reduced some of the lines. Below the waist it's still untouched so I will try to get to the point where I can more or less see the final design tomorrow
Hey guys, still doodling around with the armor trying to find out exactly what I like and a good ratio of details to empty space. Almost completely redone it
Sorting out some of the pieces that I didn't like (mostly chest). Also painted in some values which I will be still playing around with, hope you like this better. C&C is always welcome!
Playing around with some possible colors, like always nothing is final and a subject to change. Just seeing what might work in the final build. Also thinking about using ornaments on the armor plates.
Damn, @Johnnynapalmsc this guy is intense! His silhouette is incredible and you really made his wings stand out nicely. You've also brought him a long way from your original update. Â
My only critique is that he has so much going on with his armor that my eyes gets a little confused on where to look. I think if you kept the details on his helmet and torso but found a way to simplify the shapes on his legs, arms, and maybe shoulder pieces. It just needs some more areas of rest between the details in my opinion.Â
I think the gold works nicely for the side of good, but it might also be a little too similar with Overwatch's Mercy. Maybe something more like a lighter blue for the accents could work? Either way keep up the awesome work, man!Â

Hey man thanks so much for the comment, sorry for the delayed response been away for a while Very glad you like it, and where this character is going. Thanks for the critique as well, I was trying to figure what doesn't look quite right for a while. I will stay play around with the colours, and will look into simplifying the design, maybe toning down the dark values in some armor parts so it doesn't contrast too much and won't make the viewers eyes go crazy!
Looks awesome so far, don`t add more details, it is realy hard to focus on something, as dGreenberg already mentioned above. And that head piece is look a little weird, maybe narrow it...idk...
Thanks guys, also narrowed the headpiece a little and just went over the colors again. Started to add another layer on this guy, which is going to be under the armor mechanical parts. These pieces will have more detail and on top of them I will be having more clean looking plates for the eyes to rest. Still nothing here is final design.
Looking pretty good. Love the wings. The visor on the helmet bothers me. I don't think he can see in front of him with that design being so low on the face. Other than that it looks pretty cool
Good point will sort that out in the future Just retopologized the mesh so it's mostly clean, apart from one of the shoulders. Will move one to more layers and details soon. Maybe cover up the stomach area a bit more with white plates.
Hey guys, bit of update on the armour. Decided add some more interesting accents on the armor. Not sure about the colors yet, and obviously the leg area will be seeing a lot of improvement. Hope you like it
Love the added accents man. I will say that the wings look like the may have trouble folding in though which I imagine would make for a cool pose and that the sharper points on the blades inside of them conflict with the rest of his armor.
Okay guys so this is super important decision I need help on. Do you think he looks better with the clean armor or the one with ornaments and details? I'm starting to think that I should go back to previous version
Hey guys a little update. Still refining and finalizing the final sculpt, but I am slowly getting there. You can still see some faceted parts, but that's what I am working on right now. Might do one last revision on the shoulder armor as well
Felt that pauldrons didn't read well at all and looked like a mess so I'm reworking them. Put that hawk head there as a joke, but I quite like what it looks like, I'll see if I will carry it out. Obviously make the head more sculpture like and stylized-mech looking.
For the first time in a long time, starting to get really happy with this character. I will revamp the bracers completely and then quickly move to retopo and final textures.  Let me know any last pointers!
Hey guys this is my finished high poly piece and the basic color scheme. I would like to thank everyone who took their time to comment on my progress. I am quite happy with this character as this is the first original armor/character design that I've done. Now off to texturing!
So it took me a while to figure out how to make substance painter material work in corona, but I think I sorted it now. All I have to do is add all of the materials to the pose, and I'm done!
Test with the weapon (the blue parts will be glowing):
Yeah man, I'm really liking that final presentation shot! Even if he has a lot going on I think you did a great job balancing some of that with your color choices. It's way easier to get a read on him compared to a few of your previous high poly designs. Fantastic work finishing the guy up @Johnnynapalmsc! He looks awesome

Thanks very much man, like you said I tried to make the character read better with not overly doing the colour scheme. Glad to hear that I have succeeded in some way :P Thanks for you comment along the way of the process as well, that has helped me!

Day 2, carrying out with the blockout and concepting stage in zbrush. Updated the proportions too.

If anyone has any thoughts on the wing design let me know! I quite like the 2nd one, but looking forward to hearing some other opinions.
Doodling around with some secondary shape designs and colors, nothing serious. Do appreciate feedback if you got any!

Last update for tonight.Â

What are your thoughts on these shoulders? You like them better or not?
Made a sword for this guy. Will do some more changes on the blade and the detailed handle part.

These are preview shots from substance painter.
And my first version of textures (they look a bit different now, added more accents)
Super crappy screenshot of the final paint scheme.

Thanks everyone for looking through my thread, and dropping me a few pointers!

My critics would be still too much details. Can't read the model well
