Hey guys n' gals, I recently built a new pc and installed maya 2018 on it (student licence) I had a few minor problems when modelling but nothing unusual for maya. However, my problem now is that I constantly have crashes with the fatal error message when UV mapping, I'm not doing anything unusual or unfolding any ''difficult'' shells.
Anyone else experienced this problem?
I tried deleting history, apart from that I'm not really sure what could be causing the problem.

have you done a mesh cleanup.?
I'd second oglu's suggestion. Maybe export as obj and back in, or combine with a cube if Cleanup doesn't fix it.
The topology is clean, I don't have any Ngon's. It seems to happen with even the most simple shapes.
