4 steps to follow:
A note from the Shapeways team: While it is not required as part of your entry and will not impact your chances of winning (our lawyers made us say that), once you’ve entered let us know by sharing your entry on Twitter or Instagram with @Shapeways. We're excited about seeing your entries and want to help spread the word as you finish them!
The contest starts once announced on Monday, February 19th, 2018 Noon PST.
The contest ends on April 29, 2018 11:59 PM PST.
All winners will be announced within two weeks of the contest end.
Shapeways is the sole judge of the contest and their judgment will be final.
Winners will be chosen based on the following criteria:
To be eligible to win:
1: All participants must be registered to both; polycount and Shapeways, websites before the end of the contest.
2: A WIP (work-in-progress) thread must be made and maintained in the contest sub-forum on Polycount for your project, with the final version linked to your Shapeways shop:
Sculpture - The sculpture category should highlight anything you’d display your desk or pedestal to celebrate Dota2. In this category, you are free to create any type of artwork you'd like, free to get creative! This could be full figures, busts, scenes, terrain, art objects, decorative designs, relief sculpture, kinetic art.
Jewelry - The Jewelry category should include jewelry to be worn on the body. In this category, create rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, cufflinks and more. You can design to be printed in plastics or metals like silver and gold!
Toys - Toys are any and all items that are meant to be played with. Toys could include Action Figures, Building Blocks, Boardgames, Dice, Miniatures, Vehicles etc. Remember that with Shapeways plastic materials you can design flexible or moving parts!
Gadgets - The gadgets category is the place for anything meant to augment technology or be useful. Share your phone cases, rasberry pi cases, game controller mods and keyboard keys.
Props and cosplay - Full-sized props and cosplay items so you can transform into your favorite hero for your next gaming convention. 3D printable items include weapons, masks, armor, accessories and anything that helps you get into character.
There will be a winner and runner-up in each category.
The winners will get a Wacom Intuos 3D (which includes the fabulous ZbrushCore for free) their project 3D printed by Shapeways in the material of their choosing (up to $250) and an awesome trophy; a "Dotatooth".
The runner-ups will receive $50 in 3D printing credit to Shapeways.

Is it possible to create one asset/cosplay with separate elements ? For example a cosplay gauntlet ?
Thx
Yeah you don't have to make the whole costume, you could just do a part like you mention
My question is link to :
"Multiple parts per model file? We only allow identical parts for earrings and cufflinks. Multiple Rings, bracelets and necklaces or any other models are not permitted in one file."
Cf : https://www.shapeways.com/materials/gold
If I want to creat a necklace (with 4-5 separate elements) or gauntlet for example can I create multiple parts ?
To post your own WIP you can create a new topic in any of the contest categories and start your thread, they are
Sculpture
Jewelry
Toys
Gadgets
Props and cosplay
those are all great ideas that we would encourage you to explore. it's up to you! What excites you most?
I'm in the final neck of creating my entry. I have already done test uploads of the parts and I'm sure that when I'm done, even if I hollow them out, the costs for printing the entire scene (regardles of the material choice) will be well over 250$. Does that mean that my entry is therefore not elligible to win? I hope not, since nothing in the rules said anything about keeping things under a budget/limit...
I'm guessing that in case someone in this situation was chosen as winner that he just wouldn't be able to print his entry (unless he wanted to pay for the difference, which is obviously optional if he would wish to, though should not have to), but would still be able to use the prize printing credit as he chose.....am I right?
Thanks

The design of the trophy was inspired by the details of the Aegis from Dota 2. The scrollwork from the shield was used to form the body of the Greentooth sphere. The top and bottom are inset with details reminiscent of the center of the Aegis. The flower design at the poles also work as a unique stand as well for displaying this artifact.
The Greentooth was made for us by Sylei, a Dota Workshop artist, whose Steam page you can find here with some of her Workshop efforts: https://steamcommunity.com/id/sylei/
Gotta contact polycount or shapeways directly.
Doubt polycount could do anything anyway so unless shapeways responds its a ded contest.
Hoped for at lest a runner up, oh welp.
But yeah, i have no clue why there wasnt a single update, even no mention on contest end.
