Hey everyone, it's been way too long. I recently started this character, and I want to track my progress on him here. The plan for this term is for me to texture, pose, render, and comp a scene with this guy in it. His body beneath the clothes won't be production-ready this term, but I hope to make it so in the near future. I'd really appreciate your feedback on this dude as I go. Thanks in advance!
I created a look-dev render of some possible environment materials for my scene. All textures/shaders were created by me, but I got the lighting template from Robby Branham, my Texturing and Shading instructor.
Wow, been a while. Here's an overdue update, just a few raw renders from VRay. I got him out of Painter a few days ago and am now figuring out the lighting for the scene. For these renders, I was going for something a bit more cinematic. I still need to adjust the glossiness of the armor and props on his waist, sculpt displacements for the gloves and pouches, and make a few things a bit more inconsistent. Moving onto the environment and background soon.
@Doxturtle Thanks man! Very good point on the muddiness of the boots. I was so focused on the main 3D illustration that the boots took a back seat when it came to polishing the textures and storytelling. I'm thinking about returning to this if I have time this term, so I'll upload new renders if I do! Thanks again!
@arnov Thanks! It's my own design and composition, but I referenced a lot of Battlefield 1 concepts and key art. That stuff really inspired me to shoot for an honest depiction of a WWI trench raider, hence the blood.
