Heyo all,
So I imported a file into substance painter using FBX filetype. Everything worked pretty good except that some of the texture sets UVs got messed up or completely greyed out. I can't paint on the greyed out ones, and a small bit of one map didn't transfer so I can't paint on that either.
I checked the fbx file in my modeling program and it looks like it is fine. All the maps are there. I have tried reloading the object in SP. I tried exporting the mesh out of SP but in the modeling programs the UVs are still fine. I have tried loading a new version of the model, but then I lose all the painting I have done on the model, which doesn't make sense because the UVs don't change.
Here is an example. Several texture sets did this.

However, when I made the maps in ZBrush it worked fine. There must be some weirdness in how Lightwave makes UV maps.
