I recreated my own kitchen in VR using the HoloLens and HTC Vive

It really is a great community here.  I'd like to start posting here more to hone in my (bad) modeling skills and also dogfood Verto Studio more to work out kinks and make it a stronger product.

For those that don't know, I'm the Verto Studio guy.  For the past 5 years, I've been working on developing my own 3D modeling software.  Namely because I don't like the monopoly the big 3d modeling studios have over the industry and I find them to be difficult to use.

Every now and then, I take on medium scale projects to truly battle test what I've made.  For this one, I decided to try to recreate my kitchen entirely in VR.  Using first the hololens as a starting point to place scale markers, and then the HTC Vive to do all the polygonal modeling in VR.  Here's how that went below

I believe I actually still have most of the raw footage used to model the thing, but its hours long and alot of it was me cussing. I did discover and fix alot of issues with Verto Studio itself during the project though.  Namely, I made it so you can hold the menu button while dragging in a direction to lock to the X, Y or Z axes.  I've also since then added grid/edge/face snapping, CSG, and other well needed features.

I'm starting a new medium scale project as well to create (from scratch this time) an entire multi-room environment for VR.  This time, I'm going to use the strengths and weaknesses of ALL the verto versions.  ie, initial rough modeling on the mac, smooth surface modeling on the iPad using SuperD and Verto Studio Mobile, then scale correction and final modeling adjustments in VR.  I'll post updates on that project as well as things come together.
