Description:
The Barrow Neurological Institute is taking applications for a candidate
with a medical science background to create and interactive 3D programs
and models for teaching and exploring neuroanatomy, neurophysiology,
and neurosurgical techniques. The individual will also create and edit
models for 3D printing and assist creating medical animations and
illustrations.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with neurosurgeons, researchers, and the media team to plan and produce interactive 3D programs for PC and mobile and develops new code for new forms of interactivity, as needed.
Creates detailed accurate anatomical models from photogrammetry, diagnostic data, and academic references.
Edits and optimizes models and textures for various platforms and formats.
Collaborates with the media team to create medical illustrations and animations.
Assists with the development of models for 3D printing.
Advises the department on new innovations and opportunities in 3D interactivity and photogrammetry.
Catalogs and archives finished projects.
Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to create 3D models and
interactive 3D programs. Expertise with 3D modeling software and 3D
game engines. 3 years of experience preferred. Education minimum:
Undergraduate degree in Pre-biomedical Illustration or Computer Science
or Computer Graphics. Graduate degree from an accredited program in
Medical Illustration or Biomedical Visualization/Communications
preferred.

Other information: The position is within the Neuroscience Publications
Department, which currently has a staff of 15, including Medical
Illustrators & Animators, Video Editors, Multimedia Specialists,
Medical Editors and Production Editors. It provides support for academic
publications, presentations, and teaching media for Neurosurgery,
Neurology, and Neuroscience Research.
