I wanted to practice something stylised as my work has been all predominantly realistic.
My initial idea was to do a tangling vine type effect but studying the LoL characters there is something already existing for this kind of idea. I may continue with this idea also, time permitting. Using the same base idea I can create a few different ideas.
I personally love the EarthShaker's fissure power from DotA2 for gameplay and visuals, so want to experiment with abilities along this line.
Tangle Root - Cast Roots into the ground which burrow underground before exploding up to strangle the victim
Mole Slap - Casts moles which burrow into the ground before exploding up to slap the victim.

Basic idea of the tangle idea. Replacing vines with a mole idea as secondary idea. I am going to get things engine (as is my Lead's moto at work) as fast as possible as its a lot easier to test concepts and change things when they are in the "real world" and working.
Quick geo shapes to test the burrow idea. Hopefully enough variation to give different shapes and not look too repeated.

Vines probably a little too thin, or need to wrap around further. Due to the maxscript I can update the spline, animation and export in seconds.
