I'm about retopology the organic part of my dragon, I'm not quite good at it yet as the picture below shows, this is the main reason why I'm here. Because of the scales(bumpy parts) the model hasn't got quite a smooth surface.
For animation, what is the level of detail which I should keep, if I will make normal, displacement, etc maps? I made this whole topology once before, but it ended up with around 17k polycount, and didn't feel too efficient.
My main problem right now is at the neck, pipes are going in and out from it so it's not symmetrical, but I'd like to keep it as clean as possible. what should I aim for then?
