New idea.
ORNN! Hell yeah! Love him. 

Ornn and his raging Lava (Ha, lava again, who knew) Ram elemental busting into raging battle epicness. Taking place in the snow among battle debris and in front of a large unidentifiable (could be a secret weapon could not be, I don't know ) building. Maybe Volibear is lurking, the bastard.

I think number 2.

That line work one previously above didn't really work out. So I have tried a whole new process (no line just straight into colour) here to get an earlier composition and final image idea down. One day I will figure out how I like to work I'm struggling a bit to get the Ram in nicely. But I think this is working. Atmosphere and depth will be crucial for its scale, because it is an elemental right.

I'd say focus on a single thing and try to make a composition around it. Now you're trying to put too many tings into one illustration. If it's him breathing fire, take that. Have the ultimate somewhere in the background as a little easter egg that one doesn't see unless they look more careful at the illustration. Just a thought ;]

thanks guys @razz @Silvarspark . This was playing on the back of my mind too. Though I thought I got it all working "compositionally" regardless of gameplay logic. But maybe that doesn't matter if I got it all working. Maybe that gameplay balance is more important than I first thought. Ive changed this about 50 times so whats one more change  I think I need to do this change though. Plus it will keep haunting me if I don't. Especially because I wasn't the only one thinking it. Thanks y'all, Ima do it. And besides pictures usually work better when you simplify them don't they. Alright, I'm convinced. But which do I keeeeeepppp ahhhh

I'm really glad you guys came forward and said this. It's looking nice already. I dropped the bellows breath for now. I'm keeping the Ram ultimate as is more or less. Because if this was "real" they would have a touch more interaction than just the gameplay call and bash. Maybe I will play with whole new ideas and comps too...

Oh but the thing that doesn't work for me is composition, I don't care much about how the gameplay works. You just have so many things going. No need to change much, just reshuffle a bit. Here's an ugly few minute overpaint to show what I mean.

Put Ornn to the right, cause he's looking left and it works better for the composition if you leave more space where the character is looking. I made his head bigger as well, you could play with perspective of his body here, making it recede in space. Got rid of the ground smashing arm, you already have enough fire and smoke from the breath. Finally, I put the ram charging in the background. Could move things around to make it work even better, take this as a suggestion only.

I have already kept the fist smash and dropped the fire breath. It was a 50/50 decision. But the smash gave me great interaction with the ground exploding. And adds to the shifting earth in the background... Which you probably couldn't see from my pic.
But I agree with him more to the right. I'm going to do that next and see. Nice work! I should try a fire breath version too like you suggest, dropping the smash. Sure, I'll do it. I love that fire breath and was sad to see it go
And yeah, I keep playing and tweaking with that foreshortening. He's a challenge because he is so damn top heavy and squat. But not impossible.   
This all might change

it's between these bottom 2 for sure for me. Billows breath or volcanic rupture though?

about the first set of images I think the 4th one rocks! it's interesting, this whole set is though, my fav are 3-4 they make him more dangerous-like.

Since you're still working on the composition I think you could re-consider those

lots to fill out still. this is from a few days ago, I'm way ahead of this now. Will post more progress, maybe a gif when it's done. Also I got his anvil the wrong way around. It took a fully rendered version of it for me to see. Doh! haha

Had a complete computer crash and restore to factory settings yesterday. Now running older windows with updated CC. It's all gone weird and Iv'e lost my flow a bit so I hope I finish. Thank &%^$ I didn't lose my work!! But my favourite plugin Coolorus won't reinstall though :,(

What you guys think, do you think Ornn has little lion type teeth? I reckon he does. He looks really cat like but also ram like... and even like an otter in some of the concepts. He is a real mix... I'm going with some sharp teeth instead of Ram/cow type flat grazing teeth

I had all the fun. I've never been so ruthless with an image. Constantly changing things to improve them, not being precious at all (like I usually am). But time is up, and this is it.
