The team has shuffled it's priorities and the play mat is on the back burner while a few other higher priority fires are put out. First up is the design for Dice of Pirates aluminum, altoids-style, carrying tin. The general theme of DoP that I've been pushing is pirates being the punk rocks of the sea, so everything gets a dash of leather and rivets. The pair go together quiet well.
Some things that still need to happen include getting some hand painted reflections on the metal, and figuring out how to get some more pop between the logo and the background. Eventually this thing is going to be embossed so that has to factor into my solutions.
Color isn't my strongest suit so if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

also maybe widening the bones, "pirates" and flag?
how does it look if the bones overlap the edges? unless those pyramids will be embossed...
If it's going to be printed on a real physical object, talk to your team about making a mask out of those metal parts and the titles, and using them for a coat of "spot varnish" on these parts (the "spot" part is important, it means only specific parts of the object get this effect) -- let real light make it look like metal.

Two feelings I had when looking at the latest version:
- The PIRATES word in the title has less readability than the words DICE OF, which have brighter colour and outlines. I would personally make the PIRATES word shiny golden (edit: similar to this), but with the same outline effect as DICE for consistency.
- The background of the subtitle ("Roll the bones, fight yer mates" etc.) feels out of place among the other elements. It's a flat colour with some straight edges, it's missing the same attention you gave everything else.
The logo itself is fairly locked down at this point, but I'll look into ways to get the text to stand out some.
And you're totally right about the subtitle, I really haven't updated it since I started updating the background wood and it really needs that update. I'm thinking of giving it the impression that it's burned into the wood at the moment, but I promise it's going to get some love.
I started trying it out to see how fast I could implement it, but unfortunately the deadline hammer is coming down tonight.
I'll definetly keep this idea in the pocket going forward.
And I like what u did there with these shells
Barnacles are coming next now that I've got the lighting added to the sides
