Hey everyone! This will be my attempt at a Hextech version for Elise. Here's my moodboard, I'm jumping into design sketches soon and I'll post them asap. Good luck everyone!
So far I like the second and last more than the versions with dresses. I think the dresses impede Elise's general silhouette. I do like the mechanical parts, like her legs in the second concept, and her arms in both the second and last versions. The high collar on the third concept looks promising as well.... it could work on one of the other versions.
@Silvarspark I adjusted her expression a bit, to add a bit of that sinister look. Maybe she could have darker eyeshadow, I'm still considering it. Thanks for the idea!
Also added some blue to the mechanical parts. The mechanical parts seemed a bit monotonous and to add some more Hextech-themed colour
What I'm thinking so far: A - Looking up at Elise, putting her in a dominant position. The viewer might be a victim, already cocooned, as she bring a spiderling to the feast. Close to the frame other cocooned victims are already feasted on by spiderlings. The background is an expansive view of her palace, in a hextech/steampunk theme. B - More seductive pose, sitting down, inspecting a spiderling. Closer view of the background, which could provide more opportunity for intricate hextech/steampunk designs. Cocooned victims and spiderlings surround her. C - Combat shot where she sends out a volatile spiderling, and from the steam surrounding her we see the spider god rising through the steam
Hi ! My fav is the first (A) but I'd go with either A or B because they portay Elise's personality really well I prefer A because it makes me think of her ultimate and really gives of a powerful feeling, B is good for the seductive aspect. (For some reason the C one makes me think of the compositions in some splashes of Annie and Tibbers)
Good job so far, good luck Hope I'm being a bit helpful there XD
In my opinion, the "full" half circle on your sketch is more impactful than the cropped one on your last post. In your previous version the circle helped to have a clear focus on Elise, it also serves the narration very well by splitting/structuring the image: At first you see a striking main character, then you have those mummified people and ultimately you can enjoy the work on the background. It was awesome! Now, the main character has a clogged background (lot of shapes and same colors) and all the scenery take place inside the half circle.
After seeing the great new splash art for Swain I got the idea to emphasize her arm that is holding the volatile spiderling, showing how she powers-up a standard spiderling into a volatile spiderling. I also designed the volatile spiderling's back to look like a grenade, pulsing with power. Also starting to slowly get the colours to work together.
Aaaand done! Glad to have had the whole day to work on it. A big thanks to Polycount and Riot for the contest! I learned a lot and it has been a great learning curve. There are so many great illustrations in the thread, good luck to everyone!
