Hey guys! Making a thread to announce my participation
I have been wanting to paint Jinx for a while now so I will be going to do a Scene with her ( Slayer Skin ) engaging in combat with a few zombie inspired by the Zombie Brand Skin.
Here are the wips I worked on so far. I had a pretty clear Idea of what I wanted to paint. I just used one of this little guy at the end of the post to try out some pose and see if i could play with perspective a little.
I will be using Wip 3 to paint over/refine it. Wip 4 was just me testing a few things I had in mind so the design and placement of things are not final yet on it ( and I haven't painted the rest of Jinx hair yet as I'm not sure how I will be putting it to make it dynamic ) .
Good luck everyone ^^ !

Progress Update!
I tried to figure out what I could change before I started to do a sketch over the wip so I could start to paint over it.
The changes I made are a slight variation for the zombie pose ( too static) and the tomb design ( a little bland ). Corrected the pose and anatomy of Jinx and I also changed the rocket launcher position to be directed at the zombie in the front.
So here is the rough BW pass I’m working on, both the main and secondary character are where I want them to be so now is mostly taking them to a finish (already started with Jinx) and adding color at a later stage.
Edit:
I updated the old WIP image to ones with the 3 old one + the 2 other wips to have them all in one place.
The piece was missing the mayhem part so I made a few change with what I planned at first. Been playing around to keep the attention in Jinx by using the environment and other characters to "point" at her ( the fire around was distracting and grabbing the attention ) and trying to keep the place with most contrast on the piece being her.
Now it mostly keeps polishing it and take it to a finish ^^
and about how I go from BW to color: Usually, I select the part I want with the lasso tool make a copy and then apply a gradient map to it and set the layer to color mode. If it not vibrant enough I had an overlay layer with the opacity very low and then it’s just playing around with the layers if needed too but usually no need.

Progress Update:
And I think that it. So here my illustration of Jinx slaying some zombies while having fun and wrecking havoc around her .
A recap and an image to show how a played ( or tried ) to play with the composition for the focus to stay on her.
It was pretty fun to paint this piece ^^
If anyone have any question or comment feel free to post
