Really cool seeing your breakdown of the animation, lovely stuff.
Can I ask about your floor shatter effect? Is this custom built?
Thank you! Yep, I just built the floor out of basic geometry (I drew some flat polys then extruded them down - I'm not a polymodeller at all!) Then I just adjusted their individual pivot points and animated by hand.
Do you try to draw over your references regularly or does it depend on how much time you have? I try to but sometimes, it takes me a while to draw over all the key poses, extremes, major breakdowns, holds, etc, and I''m a little worried that you might not have the time to in a studio environment.

Thanks! Most of my recent (studio) work has been mocap, so there's been no real need - I tend to find there's very little time to do anything but animate in a studio environment, which is a great shame! I tend to try and be as choosy as possible so that I'm only drawing over the ones I really feel will help me. Tbh, I don't know how useful other people will find it - for me, it helps to get me thinking about the shapes, weight and overall pose and how I'm going to translate it in 3D space.
