Playing with colours:
I'd have gone for a darker/forest like environment, as Kindred is supposed to be a hunter
He wouldn't get exposed like this, would he

Which one you guys like?
What about a mix of 3 and 4 which will give you an aurora borealis look? If you go for a more arctic theme, you can put your characters on glacier instead of rocks, it will made them pop. Also regarding lighting you can have a green light in the sky, blue in the water, and a lot of reflection on ice.
You have some good points, I think I am going to do more winter theme.

I like the comp, i may have offset the hero a bit personally. I think u should lessen the yellow a bit, it's kinda too bright right now and my eyes are directly attracted by it. Settings the values in grayscale may help to enhance the focus where you want it to be.
Thanks! Checked the values, so far not that bad, but I have in plan to bring out champ with spotlights and sharpen the edges/details

More and more I struggle with a composition, thinking that it lacks of splash art feel, started to dislike it. Had a quick sketch of possible new version:
