Hi everyone! I'm Roman. I'm here to draw stuff and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of gum! Soon you'll be able to see my first sketches, refs and wips in this thread. Stay tuned. Peace!
I've just finished my other work and have finally started a splash art. There are so many champions in LoL. It took me a long time to realize which one of them I would like to recreate. And for me Braum is the best candidate. I've chosen some kind of victorian London style, or should I say Van-Helsing killing vampires and monsters-style. >:) I want to show Braum as an executioner with a large guillotine as a shield/weapon.
Here are some referenses that I've collected at the moment:
Hi everyone! I'm adding some very rough sketches. They give exposure of an idea of the composition and tone in my future artwork. I decited to use the "A" version, because it fits the best to this composition and perspective as well.
I don't know what's wrong, but sometimes my posts dissapear after being edited. Anyway here is my third try posting it.
Hi there! I'm working on the concepts.
1) Here is the basic black and white version I love the most! Later I'll add some other versions I was working on. They are too rough at the moment and I just want to add more details to them.
2) Basic concept in different color palettes. Still can't decide which one of these two is the best so any advices and opinions in comments are more than welcome
3) Still haven't decided which one of two Braums to choose. Just having fun with guiliottine color schemes.
These versions are not the final concept though. I'm still messing around with the design of Braum and his weapon, adding new details here and there.
So grim! Wouldn't have imagined Braum ever being cruel like an executioner. I like that you thought outside of the box I'd say think in isometric more when you're designing a skin. The blade parts of the guillotine wouldn't be visible enough in game angle with the current weapon design you have, although the shape works in a non-game illustration.

Thank you for your comment, it's very helpful. After it I drew my guillotine in isometric, and to my opinion it fits well in this perspective. Maybe blade needs to be a little longer. I will certainly keep it in mind
Hi everyone! I'm here with the new update. It was pretty hard work. But finally I've made a final decision with the composition, shapes, poses, perspective and all that stuff!
Here is the rough and final sketch:
And here is the black & white tone version, which I'm gonna be working on at the next stages:
Awesome! Great light, composition and storytelling. To my mind there is something to do with his left arm foreshortening, at first glance i thought he has no forearm or a flat one. I'm looking forward to see your next move :^)
Really high quality work man, looks amazing! I'd just try to build a little more focus on the face, and do something about the leg that's coming forward because idk if it's because of the contrast, the lighting or the amount of detail but it attracts a lot of attention on the piece. Keep up with the good work!
Hello everyone! Here comes the new update! I've added many details and effects, but it's not the final version. Some parts of the artwork are well-drawn enough and some of them require more detailing. I must figure out what works well for the art and what needs to be removed or modified, color and tone correction is also needed.
Really cool work and idea. The mood is great. I like that you didnt fall into the trap of putting blood anywhere. The lighting is also spot on.
Criticism: The red light on his face helps to set a focal point but feels rather heavy handed. I'd like to see a version without the red light and his head beeing rather dark so it stands as a silhouette against the bright moon. If it's not enough focus, maybe add slight red reflections to his eyes.
The thing that's bothering me more is the anatomy of his chest. It looks rather flat. I'd say the pecs could use more curveature and the clavicles might have to be strightened. Take a look at Sion's and Braum's original splash arts and check how their ribcage is depicted.

I liked the idea of more darker silhouette against the bright moon! I think I'll try this. I'll think of the anatomy of his chest too. Thanks a lot for your constructive critique. It helps me a lot on these stages of art
Yes I agree with 'SilvarSpark" regarding the red light on his face. even I feel it is bit too much, for that reason his face is not readable enough. So if you decrease lil bit, I think it will work. But by the way this is just my thought, You are free to do anything coming from your mind. And best of luck, keep it up , and Mary Christmas....
Oh my gosh, what a nice and awesome contrast to the normally so loving Braum! I love your Idea with the shield and Im sure you just hack n slay this contest!
Hello guys! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you're having a good time. So here is my new and final(?) update for this topic. I'm not sure that I'm going to add something more to this artwork for now, maybe I'll come up with something interesting during January. I hope you'll like it!
P.S. Meanwhile I realized that I have the whole month left and I come up with a crazy idea to prepare one more splash art.
This is absolutely amazing dude, full of detail and still super clean with an interesting composition and spot on colors, you got the first place in your hands already. Great job!
Really cool illustration. The rendering is fantastic. How you pass from black and white to colour, its something that i like to ask every artist to see which one works the best.
I can absolutely say this is one of the best! This can be an official splash art , the composition, light ,color and most important of all, the story telling is great! awesome !
