[Riot Art Contest 2017] Elderwood Quinn

Hey all! I am really excited to join this contest and get to work. After a bunch of random ideas I decided to do a Quinn Skin. She is one of my favorite champions and although has a couple sweet skins, she could really use some love! Elder wood seemed like a really interesting spin on her as she has a good heart and with her affinity for her animal companion, I can see her using her virtues to defend the forest. Should be posting some sketches up here soon.

Starting off searching for shapes that make Quinn read as Quinn. Got a long ways to go, but wanted to post something to start off with

These were the three sillouhettes that I decided to work up, gonna choose one and polish it up next.

Some composition thumbnails, trying to fit both characters was a bit challenging for me, but I think B might be the one I move forward with
Drew everything in, working on lighting at the moment. Not completely happy with the lighting so got a lot more work to do on it. Excited to get into the painting and finish up!

Did you try to change the colour of the yellow light (like blue) or dimming it? Also, if you want to keep both the character and the background yellow, check elderwood Hecarim splash.
Is the guy jumping Mike Powell? He is attempting a long a** jump!

More work on the crossbow, considering taking out the guy altogether, it might just be too much going on in this composition. Tried out a blue bg but it didnt't work out as well as i thought so looking for more solutions there as well while continuing to polish
Update, playing around with more effects, thinking of ways to get some more Z axis movement into the piece, was thinking her bow could be drawing on the energy of the forest, might be a bit too much tho so will continue to experiment for other solutions
Starting to float the lighting around and polish up my focal points, I don't think i'll have time to finish the background but i'll do my best to finish the focal points! I really want to play up the fantasy of the Elderwood skins being mystical and spiritually attached the forest so I will do my best to play that up as well
