@JamesTeeple Thanks for the input, indeed they lacked a bit of volume.
I also made the shoes bigger, as said earlier. He needed it! Here is my progress with the low-poly model:
Eyes are merged in the model, as on every other League model that has human proportions and no special animations on the face. I made the face topology with a slightly higher density than it should, so i can put light face animation/posing.
Gonna jump on the UVs and to bake tests now, to see if the geometry is ok.
ah damn i missed the progress on this one for a while! It's looking damn fantastic, the sculpt is very well stylized, and the lowpoly topology is just flawless, it's coming along great!
nicely done on the low poly man! might be a little too late on this and this is kinda personal preference on my end, but have you considered tilting up the toe of his shoes? Personally I think it creates a little dynamism in the boot-- on top of what @Ro-bo stated earlier by the exaggeration of the shoe size-- helps kinda amplify that boyish toony look of both Ezreal and Sora-- just a thought-- up to you-- your boy is looking really good man~
Texturing done! I finally decided to go for a chess/racing mix:
10/10 MLG joke
Here are the UVs though, lots of symmetry, for legs, shoes, headphones, arms, jacket
Thanks everyone for the kind comments, that's a motivation boost!
@jmiles Great idea man, I did this kind of curve on the toes, but it was too shy to be noticeable, so now I did it well following your suggestion, works wonders. I just imported my UV'd shoes in zbrush and moved both the highpoly and the lowpoly with transpose master. I'll post a new image of the final sculpt once I take the time to do the renders again!
Hopefully tomorrow I can bake some normal maps and AO tests.
This is looking cool already For the headphones....well, since the color you used for your concept kinda worked, I say why don't you try the color you used for your concept?
This is looking super dope so far @GravityBwlast! If I could make a suggestion, I think if you could echo the blue glow you have going on in your gun and put it somewhere else on the gun so we can see it from the top/down view?-- just a small rectangular button would do. Perhaps even in the LED of his watch?- just to spread that color around a bit--- same could go for the sun glasses-- the ear hooks of the frames of his sunglasses could take on the green color like you have on the headphones to spread that color around a little too-- up to you.. just a suggestion-- other than that, perhaps watch how dark your blacks are getting in his backpack and powerglove-- it's a stretch-- I've just been having issues w/ mine and getting the dark colors to feel right in mine w/o getting too dark and contrasted to the lighter value colors-- I think on average the darkest darks go down to the 30% (dark to light) value range-- I've got mine in the 25%'s in some places, but mostly I try to hold my value scheme from the 30% - 90% dark to light ratio-- just a thought for future ref-- looking badass man- looking forward to your final!
Hey guys, I'm not dead! Hope you all had a great holiday time. I sure did, and have been working back on this guy two days ago.
Thanks @jmiles for the crits, it helps a lot! Thank you! @rezet
Here is the progress!
Main changes were: Glasses and headset colors, gauntlet geometry and dispplays, hoverboard color fix + details size to read better, added a collar for the denim shirt, worked a bit on the hair rendering,...
Thats about it, more and more to come, I'm not quite there yet.
And for the presentation I'm thinking of him stepping on the floating board while holding his shades over his nose like in the movie's well known poster.
He's looking awesome Antoine! Love it! Maybe you could add some dark colors on the black parts of your texture? Like the two little vents on his glove thingy, the inner part of the glove and the inside of the headset. These areas are pure black and some colored highlights would make them more readable. Looking forward to the final renders for this guy! It's gonna be cool to see him riding his board!
This is getting great! I lost a lot of updates and now it almost finished hahaha. Loved the change on the gun and shoes with blue glow. Congrats so far, Antoine! GREAT!
I've been polishing the texture, refining the face, gauntlet, jeans, actually refining everything, lol. Also I've rigged and skinned the model so I can pose it and (maybe) animate it, but this is something new to me I don't really know how to do; good thing there are things such as AdvancedSkeleton5 and tutorials on YouTube. So here is a WIP shot of the beautyshot pose.
Also, the 2541684968th ingame shot:
Still taking feedback on the texture even if I consider it 99,99% done (need to move on to presentation shots and stuff so yeah, could go on texturing forever...)
I had some fun these last days and made a teaser for my entry; served me as an excuse to make some music, been missing doing some for so long. I hope you guys will like it, it was so fun to do ahah. Now I need to get back to the real business which is making the beautyshots and all.
Great job man, that teaser is really cool! It would be cool if you had an 80s theme background for the final shot like the look of the teaser, it fit really well.
I'm glad to call this project finished, it has been tons of damage fun! Thanks to everyone who shared feedback with me, it helped a lot and was a great environment to be creative in. So many great entries, congrats to everyone! Plus obviously a HUGE thanks to Riot and Polycount for holding such an amazing contest.
Yes! :-) That's what I call a mic drop! Fantastic work man, it really shows that you had fun working on this guy. You chose a theme and stuck to it in your presentation. Nice work on all the different poses and in-game VFX! Good luck mon ami ;-)
Stunning process and final realisation. Nice artstation too, you made tons of progress with this Samus. And...nice avatar! I hope you don't mind if i use it as a reference Cheers!
@Goldo_O Merci mec ! Your 2014 entry inspired me a lot! Good luck to you too, even if I think you won't even need it! @Innocent_Prime thank you which avatar are you talking about, samus or my face? anyway feel free to use as ref lol Cheers

Finally the fun part of painting the dude is coming!
Can't wait to see what you do with the texturing
Here is a first texturing WIP; face needs a lot of work, I mean actually everything needs a lot of work, lol.
Note sure about the headphones colors, any thoughts?
For the headphones....well, since the color you used for your concept kinda worked, I say why don't you try the color you used for your concept?
More progress, and sadly won't be able to work on this guy again probably until maybe January 3rd...
Hope you all had a great holiday time.

I'd say I'm now 95% done on the texturing part, Idk what to do anymore my eyes need rest
