I literally just joined for this contest, but this seems like a really cool place! Anyway, I'll be using something I made a while back, as a reference for my splash art for Dark Star Veigar.  (As well as a nicer overall reference)

I really like the idea of Dark Star Veigar because it fits his theme rather well, since his spells refer to space - namely his W, Dark Matter(a substance supposedly only found in space), his E, Event Horizon(The edge of a Black Hole!), and how the Dark Stars are centered around space and black holes. Another name for a black hole is a Dark Star, after all! Here is the original (finished) concept of my Dark Star. I got lazy with the effects.

Flat colors and no effects! 

I realize he's very dark, and it's hard to see some of the lines, so here's one with lowered opacity for the color layers to see where everything sits.

Finished effects (though a little lazy with the dust)! Now, onto the splash! (Oh God, help me.)

the idea is not bad and i can suggest to think stuff in a more geometric and grounded way , i can see it's a rough but   try to render more even the study  this can really help you in the final splash and save a lot of effort and time i'ts my humble opinion on what i see right now , so i can't judge or tell to you nothing more at this time ... good luck mate
