[SP 2017.3.1] File > Clean - Corrupt a File

Hey guys, just now I did a file cleanup via the menu above and it printed lots of failed save/ failed load on the log window, I thought it didn't save the file (cus it said failed to save...) close painter and reopen that file, now painter won't even open it anymore..and instead it printed this on the log window..

Does anyone have any clue on what's happening?
*Those xxx just to hide the projects name I'm working on, there is a legit path printed on the SP error log here...

Did you sens us a bug report regarding this issue ? It sounds familiar.

Hmm, no not yet. I just posted it here so far..is this a known issue?
But luckily I still have the autosave enabled so I can get the previous version and just redo some of the lost work done after the autosave version..

I've seen this as well and have basically had to stop cleaning my files which sucks because they're often HUGE ...

"Save As"  works as a clean I believe.   might be a workaround.

Saving in a different location with "Save As" does reduce the filesize substantially but clean seems to go further. For example I just had a 5.9GB spp file (7 texture sets), saving a copy in deskop left it at 3.17GB, cleaning that one got it down to 2.5GB so there must be a difference.

It's better than not being able to open it again. 

Is this issue present on 2017.4.2  ?

Just did some testing ... cleaning a file seems cool in 2017.4.2 ... at least on the one file I tried.  Cut the size in half .. maybe it's working again...

Yeah I did try on 1 of my recent file and it cut down from around ~2.5gb to ~600mb. But I still will backup the files before do any cleanup just to be safe

We are currently investigating the corruption that could happen when doing a "Clean" on a project. For the moment we advise not using it.
