Hey PCers. Long-time lurker, occasional poster... I'm Robert Yang, I'm here to announce that my department NYU Game Center is doing a faculty search for an Assistant Arts Professor, specifically a game artist to teach our students. We're basically looking for a 2D / 3D artist with working experience (either a big indie release / or AAA) who has a good eye as well as production skills. Character or environment artist or tech artist etc is fine, just as long as you know enough to follow a more general focus in your teaching. This is a great opportunity for folks who want to try teaching game art / shift their careers a bit.

Some quick bullet points:
- I believe you need at least a bachelor's degree, masters degrees are good too
- no prior teaching experience required (but it helps)... again, please don't be intimidated by all the academic requirements, we really are open to hiring folks outside of academia and we'd love to hire someone from the industry if it's a good fit
- very reasonable teaching load (5 classes a year)
- you are expected and encouraged to continue your personal / professional work as an artist, working on projects and making stuff outside of teaching
- no tenure, but it's a renewable contract, and many arts professors here stay on for a long time
- if you're currently in a huge project: there might be some flexibility with your start date, on a case by case basis
- living in New York City is pretty awesome, relocation and housing assistance is available
- international applicants are welcome

Feel free to ask any general questions here, or e-mail me at ry14 (at) nyu (dot) edu if you have questions.

    just a short update:
    - the faculty search is still active
    - I've been getting questions about what "finalists will be asked to submit creative work" means... this is NOT an art test, that just means you'll formally submit a portfolio or reel to the committee
