Hi everyone ! This is my first attempt at creating a handgun, It was a huge challenge for me but I'm quite happy with the result so I wanted to gather some critiques and advices for my future projects !
Thanks for you reply, you're right, I had a hard time finding those references images and I think I did some parts a little bit wrong of what it is in real life. Can you explain a little more about my baking issues ? Baking is really a pain in the ass for me but with Painter I find it easier now.
Thanks, I'll keep it up, you can be sure about that !
Yeah maybe your UV Shells are toooooo long, and the Smoothing Groups cant handle them anymore. Dont forget to cut them when you go over 90° Corners in your Geo. Or even less then 90°.
The shorter your Shells are, the better they will handle tight Triangles, LODs...and so on. But you will also have more Seams which you have to paint away in Painter.
So for example, i would UV a simple box that way:
I would also go to overlapp all faces.
But i wouldnt make it this way:
Maybe this would work, but earlier or later your smoothing groups would start to strike and you will get shadows and gradients and so on... in your normal map.

This here needs to be round: ( But I also know, its a strange shape, i also modeled it...)
And at the back, the Slide is not sliding on plastic.
Also your Bake looks a bit strange. To big shells, less cuts?
But i think youre on a good way!
Keep it up!

This is a wireframe, but in the Artstation link there's a sketchfab viewer !
And for the normal map :
