Is there an MCG for 3DSMAX that creates an array of objects? I want to use the new path deform modifier of 3dsmax 2018.2 together with an array MCG modifier and the welder modifier to create a modifiable spline array.
This would create a ‘merged’ array along a spline that can still be modified at any time. For instance, the number of objects can be changed or topology of the instance object modified.
I tried with the Flux MCG modifiers (from MCG sample pack 2), But it is slow and unstable and also does not allow meshes to be welded.

Have you used this thing? Might work for what you need it to do. Can be combined with the Vertex Weld modifier for nice results inside a single object.
Is there a restriction on MCG that prevents welded polygons, for example within the MCG or by using the Welder Modifier?
1 - Clone multiple objects (instances of the original object along x/y/z) - Count should be modifiable afterward. Multiple meshes would be even better either sequentially or randomly)
2 - Optionally Start and Cap Geometry (Like Zbrush IMM)
3 - (Weld open vertices) Either within the MCG or using Welder Modifier.
Finally, use the new PathDeform 2 Modifier with uniform and auto spacing on.

Try "Stacker"
Then use VertexWeld modifier.
