WIP:
I am back again with a new project I am working on. Smaller project. I want to quickly model these and work with PBR texturing. Trying to get this done as fast as I can. I found this my last project that I just take way too long. So I need to get better with that. My self challenge is to finished this project by Halloween. That give me alittle over a month to finish.

Small tweeks to shell number 2. 


Fixes to the transition areas making them softer.

Redoing the top to make it more complex.

Small update on redoing some of the cuts and adding red sections. 





I extended the top cap down on the black part. Cut all the way for those cut on the white cylinder so they they crash into the black center.


 I also cut the red parts out and made them separate part but still in the bend modifier.

Wireframe of the base section here. Ran into some smoothing problems when it instanced and then bend.
ALSO Make sure to smooth before bending. You keep forgetting this.

Hopefully fixed the issues so I can move on to the next one.

looks really clean, no real feedback except in terms of design those X shaped engravings do not look as chiselled as the rest of the body.

Thank you for the feed back. I kind of see what you mean. The shape is alittle width and the cuts are alittle narrower in width. Depth is about the same I think. Good call.

Thank you for coming to be page. I have been working hard on this project. I have learn alot from from Alex, Shawn, Josh, Anthony, and others working along side me and having alot of fun along the way. I hope to continue on with this project to bring it to the next stage soon. Pushing my limits and skills for the better.

Working on learning Substance Painter.

I am still having this seam issue. I have tried to paint out the normal seam. It seam to work and not work. Idk what to do about it (red). I fixed a few of my other ones with more geo along the curved seams (green). 3ds Max->Marmoset (Normalmap bake 32bit)->Photoshop(normal seam correction)->SubstancePainter(Metal/Rough)->Marmoset Show case.




I feel like it might be either an issue with the LP UV's/smoothing groups, Normal Map Bake/photoshop painting it out, Substance Painter roughness layer somewhere, or idk?

The second shell I am having a strange problem with the projection and a seam on the little red pieces. I tried smoothing them out in Marmoset but it doesn't really work. Do I need more geo?

Are you using a cage? Also, I don't think your low poly should have the same grooves as your high poly. Your normal map should be able to take care of them just fine

Yep. I am using a cage. It a problem of distortion.

Small update to the first one.

Still working on the second LP. I am getting some weird seams all over the top sections.

 (Solution) These are created by hard/soft edge setting in the edges in combination with the baking in the normal map. Change the edges to soft on those then re-bake. And TexTools Smoothing Group from UV Shell.

I fixed the normal map gradient on Shell2, by redoing the LP with alittle more geo and combine some areas. Using the smoothing group 30% and the TexTools smoothing group from UV island. I need to do the same for the Shell1.
