We're looking for an environment artist to join our team at Lonely Egg Studio!
ABOUT US:
Founded in 2017 by partners Jessica Fong and Mark Biundo and headquartered in California’s Bay Area, Lonely Egg Studio is a small indie game studio fostering and developing meaningful games that are artistic and deeply personal; to inspire, connect with, and impact their players. Investing in people; devoted developers that wish to nurture personal growth in each other through strong collaboration, discipline, and experimentation.
Primarily aim to develop PC and console based games.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
This is a remote contractor position with deferred compensation (a custom profit share model that is shared and transparent to the team) on our first game; an unannounced title based on Jessica’s life and story work involving her and her family's experiences with child abuse. The game is an intensely personal narrative driven adventure game, and a form of recovery and closure for Jessica and her family.
Our ideal candidate creates artwork driven by narratives with compelling worlds and rich backstories, is able to follow the established style and tone of our game, and can create scenes from a variety of perspectives. The main duties will involve vis dev and asset creation. While there is a lot of room for creativity and expanding upon the existing world, the work will be overseen by Fong to ensure it fits within the established canon and game scenes.
There will typically be roughly 8-10+ hours of work each week give or take. You will be expected to participate in team channels and frequently attend video/voice conference calls for brainstorming, stand ups, and work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work and edit within existing/future canon, materials, match the art style, and work with the original creator to create, translate, and transcribe storytelling/game elements into cohesive interactive and cinematic scenes.
- Create 2D painterly scenes and assets.
- Assist with vis dev design, storyboards, style/asset sheets, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have excellent communication, presentation, and art theory understanding.
- Ability to rapidly respond and adapt to feedback and implement and iterate on changes
PLUSSES
- Experience with animation pipeline or animation programs.
- Experience with modeling and/or texturing (Ex: Maya, Blender, etc.)
- Experience with technical art and/or Unity.
