I've been looking into Spline paths for the project I am working on, where we're trying to work out how to add cart tracks or similar features to the landscape around the level/world.
I saw this live talk here @ 17.07:
https://youtu.be/oRfVFh_6OyA?t=17m7sWhere the designer has exactly what we'd be after. However he talks about having dithered edges, so that it allows the spline to merge in easily to the floor without a hard seam. But whenever I look into dithering, I can't find an easy way to make it in photoshop or whichever programme I am using at the time.
I've tried using a opacity mask, but it only respects black or white, so i can't easily have a gradient.
And with a translucent material, I can use opacity for a dither but then lose all the normal and other detail maps that are attached to said material.
So i was wondering if anyone has any knowledge or processes that would help me out.
Cheers!
