Maya panel layout - ADD MORE??

Maya 2017 has 3 panels and the Outliner toggle in the panel layout. I have made a couple custom layouts that I would like to add to the left column. So far all I can figure out is how to change the current three but I would like to add 2/3 more instead of fishing around the menus.
This may be one of those dumb question bc it has a simple solution that I have yet find on Google or figure out but... any help would be awesome.
