[PAID] 3D Character Artist & Rigger (3ds Max) - Variable State

Award-winning video game studio Variable State is looking for a contract 3D character artist & rigger to work remotely on a new, unannounced project.

The start date is flexible and the role will last for 12 months.

Applicants should ideally be based in the UK or Ireland.

Responsibilities:
  • Working with our art director on look and style
  • Create high quality, game-ready, efficient, animation-friendly character assets
  • Rigging and skinning of character models
  • Use of character models in low, medium, and high polygon counts, organic and hard surface modelling
  • Clean texturing and material work

You must be able to:
  • Provide a showreel displaying character artwork
  • Demonstrate proven experience implementing game characters, including modular character design suitable for character customisation
  • Rigging and skinning characters in 3ds Max
  • Export and organise character assets and materials in Unity
  • Show a keen eye for detail, realism, composition and colour
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of human anatomy
  • Pose skinned characters to create presentation renders and turntables
  • Work remotely, using your own hardware and software
  • Participate in web-based company chat and video conference
  • Be available for normal business hours in UK time / GMT+0
  • Submit work via Perforce
  • Work independently with confidence, own your tasks and deliver to quality in a timely manner and to deadline

Added bonuses:
  • Completed and shipped at least one full-cycle (start to end) 3D console game project, with recent and relevant experience with console development
  • Experience with high and low-poly clothing and drapery modelling
  • Previous experience with Unity

Particular preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in studio game development.
