Can someone explain how my perfect / almost finished Kru-nu knife got distorted over night like this??

Well, 3ds Max is known for attracting gremlins at night that fuck your meshes up, hadn't you heard?

You should have previous save files in your Documents>3dsMax>autoback folder.
