I've been wanting to complete a hard surface project lately, and after looking around for interesting subject matter, I decided on an old milling machine manufactured in the early 1900s.
I think it has a good amount of complexity to be challenging yet still manageable as a side project.
For those interested, I found my reference on this site that documents the history of old machine tools, organized by
the companies that designed them. It may be of interest to other hard
surface enthusiasts out there.

And here is the page for the Carter and Hakes machine where I grabbed my reference from: http://www.lathes.co.uk/carterhakes/
Below are some screengrabs of my progress so far, blocking out the forms and proportions. Trying not to go too detailed in any one area at this point, til I do a once over on everything.
side view. Proportions are not quite there yet.
In this last one, I'm trying to get some of the larger forms solidified. I'll need to integrate that base in next, before I go much farther.
