Anyone else notice that this was the first year in a long time that Maya LT wasn't announced before Maya proper? And this comes after they recently dropped Maya LT from steam. From the outside looking in, it doesn't appear that LT has been much of a success, and the bundled stingray engine isn't even really worth installing.... with far better alternatives out there, and even Amazon's lumberyard beginning to leap-frog stingray.
Might they be winding down Maya LT already to follow the fate of gmax and SI? With Modo indie 11 also strangely absent, blender will be the undisputed king of that space.

This thread caught my eye today, I've seen AD reps taking in comments when it comes to "indie" pricing recently as well. Even if LT dies (no big loss), maybe we'll see more flexible plans on the real deal.
Maya LT 2018 is out today. Here's what's new:

FYI Our release dates for LT will often be variable as things need to re-tested in LT after going into Maya.

Im very interesting in learnig Weapon Rigging&Animating and so i´m looking for an Maya alternative.
Maya LT should do the trick. But is the Unreal ART Toolkit so much better then the Maya LT Tools for Rigging and Animating?
Or should i stay in 3DSMAX for Rigging and Animating? There are a few good tutorials on YouTube.
I want to give my weapons a life, by waking them up with animations :-)
There is this Gnomon Workshop Tutorial for making Animations in Maya for Unreal. But i think the instructor uses Maya with the Unreal ART Toolkit, so i can´t follow the tutorial with an Maya LT subscription :-(
Mhh...not sure where to start!
