Maybe it's just me, but I've been familiar with the 2D portfolios that have a little bit of this and that. The recruiters want to see diverse subjects and approaches, AFAIK. You can't really build a portfolio with only vehicles or props. You gotta have some characters here and figure drawings there.
But as I learn 3D, it seems like 3D portfolios are a bit of the opposite. Of course, there are good artists who can do characters, environments, props and vehicles. But it seems like the field of 3D is very compartmentalized. And I really didn't know about that. I really believed that if you are going for modeling portfolio you need to have a little bit of every different subject. And it seems like I am wrong.
So what do you guys put into your portfolio? I am really curious.

A 3D portfolio is (usually) aimed at a specific discipline. Character Artist, Environment Artist, Animator, etc. But you could also go for a Generalist, in which case you would show everything, but the bar is much higher because then, well, you need to be able to execute on them ALL.
